Italy, model Velluto vintage Vibration white latte red Gaetano Pesce; dimensions 126 x 145 cm; fabric: silkscreened velvet designed by Gaetano Pesce for Expansion Design Bologna, circa 1970–1980; condition: in good condition, used with signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
Extraordinary vintage fabric in screen-printed velvet designed by the renowned architect and designer Gaetano Pesce in the 1970s for the Expansion Design collection. The pattern, named "Vibration", represents an absolute icon of kinetic art and Op Art applied to textiles in the context of Italian Radical Design.
This color variation is particularly energetic and impactful: it features the geometric grid of squares and rectangles in a bright reddish-orange on a luminous milky white background. The compression and dilation of the geometries create a pronounced illusion of movement and three-dimensional depth across the surface. The soft velvet finish gives the red color a changing sheen and a tactile rendering of great value.
The velvet pile is well preserved, the intact and original selvedge is present and unsigned as often happened for fabric productions of the era (hence the attribution).
Thanks to the almost square proportions (126 x 145 cm), this piece is ideal to be stretched and hung as a large wall art tapestry, turning into a true design painting. It is equally perfect for the creation of author decorative cushions or for upholstering period seating.
The colors may vary depending on the different digital devices used.
