- RDM-2 is an armored reconnaissance vehicle developed by the Gorky automobile plant and produced from 1964 to 1989 in the USSR, with licensed production in Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. The vehicle's armor is effective only against small arms, but it has good off-road capabilities, important for reconnaissance roles. To overcome ditches and trenches, small additional wheels were added to the center of the hull. On good condition roads, the BRDM-2 can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. A water jet engine gives the vehicle amphibious capabilities. The BRDM-2 is armed with a 14.5 mm KPVT heavy machine gun in a rotating turret and a coaxial 7.62 mm PKT Kalashnikov machine gun. The incendiary perforating KPVT rounds are effective against light armored vehicles. During its long production run, various modifications and improvements were made. Over 7,200 BRDM-2s were produced and served with the USSR and its allies. Many of these armored cars are still in use in Russia and many other countries around the world.

The BMD-2 infantry fighting vehicle was developed in the early 1980s and entered service with the Soviet army in 1985. Mass production of the vehicle also began in 1985, and the vehicle remains in service with the Russian Federation's troops to this day (2017). The BMD-2 is powered by the same engine as the BMD-1, namely a 5D20 engine with 240 HP, and can carry up to 4-5 disembarked troops. The standard armament of the BMD-2 includes: the 2A42 30 mm cannon, one PKT machine gun calibred at 7.62 mm, and one ATGM launcher (anti-tank guided missile) 9M111 Fagotto or 9M113 Competition. Like the BMD-1, the BMD-2 infantry fighting vehicle was primarily designed for service in Soviet airborne forces, and its development was based on experience from the Afghanistan war (1979-1989). Notably, compared to the BMD-1, the vehicle's main armament was modified, a new B30 turret was used with a crew of one, and its ergonomics were improved by lightening the tasks of the vehicle commander. The vehicle's ability to cross water obstacles without special preparation and its air transportability by planes or helicopters were also maintained. The BMD-2 was used in combat in Afghanistan during 1979-1989.

- Note: I place great importance on the correct description and good photos of the lot. Photos are part of the lot's description and provide much information about the lot, including its condition and completeness. I always recommend studying the numerous photos carefully. Photos always take precedence over the written text.
Photos of the assembled and painted model are for illustrative purposes only.
Additional costs will be applied to non-continental destinations, including islands and overseas territories.
