Description from the seller

Unique special and rare!

Beautiful Mercedes S-CLASS 280 S/8 ORIGINAL DUTCH DELIVERED WITH ONLY 9,857 KM!

With the arrival of the W108, the fins disappeared. Designer Paul Bracq (a Frenchman) opted for more flowing lines and a lowered centerline. The car was a huge success, thanks in part to its reliability.

The new S-Class was introduced in 1965, understated and classic. The main difference from its predecessor, the so-called "Heckflosse," was its appearance. The American styling cues were gone, the window area was enlarged, and the centerline was lowered. The styling of the W108 was fantastic.
The W108 featured front and rear crumple zones, a deformable steering column, safety locks and disc brakes all round.
A key characteristic of all S-Types was that they were among the safest cars of their time. Technically, little changed. The rear axle design with the swing axle from the 1950s was retained.

Unique!
This vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz S-CLASS 280 S/8 , 71 model year.
Originally delivered in the Netherlands on January 5, 1971
Only 9,857 km demonstrably by means of a National Car Pass Certificate.
Owned by one family for 50 years. Beautiful, unrestored condition. Always stored dry and warm indoors. The car drives very well. The interior is excellent.

Interior
The interior is in excellent condition. Blue half-leather MB-Tex seats, rear bench seat, and door panels are in excellent condition; this material is very durable. It features the original headliner and beautiful blue carpets. A nice steering wheel and original instruments are also included. The wood on the dashboard is excellent, and the upper dashboard is original and free of cracks. The sunroof works properly.
The chairs are in very good condition and the carpet is also neat.
The dashboard is complete, and the Blaupunkt radio works properly, as do all the instruments. An immobilizer is also included for security.

Exterior
The car impresses with its exceptionally well-preserved bodywork.
The paint is in very good condition and still shines fantastically; it has always been stored indoors in a dry and warm place.
All the chrome and brightwork is in good condition. Vredestein Sprint tires have excellent tread.
The car looks neat and the signs of wear are really minimal.

Technical
Under the hood is an original, well-running 2746 cc 6-cylinder gasoline engine producing 156 hp. This is the original "Matching Numbers" engine. The engine is dry and runs excellently.
Shifting is done manually via the middle circuit and it is equipped with 4 gears.
The S-Class recently had a service.
Drives fantastic!

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
