Description from the seller

Southern Italy, around 1800. Probably Lecce school.

Suggestive figure of a saint made of papier-mâché. The draping of the habit is very beautiful.
Head and hands in painted terracotta with great mastery.
Height 68 cm.

A lesion on the papier-mâché (about 2 cm) on the left shoulder; missing thumb finger on the left hand (photos 5 and 6); otherwise in good condition, with slight signs of age. The hole on the back of the head was probably the point where the halo was attached (photos 7 and 8).

SHIPPING ONLY TO EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES, EXCLUDING ISLANDS.

Seller's Story

I mainly collect Murano chandeliers thanks to the collaboration with some companies that restore apartments and palaces in Venice. In this way, over time, I have recovered the chandeliers of elegant and often ancient houses in the lagoon and in the nearby areas. Murano glass has an incomparable charm: every piece, even the simplest, has a story hidden in its fragility and its iridescent light.
