Sober en sierlijk beeld van Maria met het slapende kind Jezus in haar armen, vervaardigd uit een samengestelde hars met fijngemalen steen — een materiaal dat zorgt voor een matte, marmerachtige afwerking en een fijn gevoel voor detail.

Maria is teder voorgesteld, haar hoofd licht gebogen naar het kind dat in diepe rust tegen haar borst ligt. De lange golvende haren en vloeiende plooien in haar gewaad zijn subtiel uitgewerkt, met een zachte maar krachtige expressie van moederlijke geborgenheid.

Opvallend is de bolvormige basis die symbool staat voor de wereld. Deze voorstelling verwijst naar haar rol als Koningin van de Hemel en Moeder van de mensheid. Ze staat letterlijk boven de aarde, als teken van haar verheven positie binnen de christelijke devotie.

De sokkel is strak en eenvoudig gehouden, wat de aandacht volledig op het beeld zelf vestigt.
