Description from the seller
A Rare Book by Allan Jones. Jones is one of the leading British artists of the groundbreaking pop movement. In 1969 he designed sets and costumes for the musical Oh Calcutta! in London.
Around 1970 he was asked by Stanley Kubrick to create a design for the milk bar in his film A Clockwork Orange. Jones refused the task because Kubrick offered only an honorary mention as compensation, after which the set was designed by others in the desired style.
With paintings and sculptures, he is represented in many major international collections, including the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., the Museum of 20th Century Art in Vienna, the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
