Let's all reflect for a moment on the iMac G’s th anniversary. // THE GREATEST MAC EVER MADE – YEARS LATER – Twenty Years ago, Apple introduced the iMac G, and the company again turned the market on its head. And in doing so, it created the greatest Mac it has ever made. The design was truly unique – and Apple got the ergonomics right! The best part of the iMac’s design was the "cantilevered metal arm" that held the LCD. Last-but-not-least: the Tournesol launched the digital hub. The iMac G is also know as the "Tournesol", "Sunflower" or "iLamp". the Tournesol was the first desktop Mac to use a flat-panel LCD (Liquid-Crystal Display). To this day, the iMac G stands out in a mundane world of desktop computers—current Macs included (even Apple’s designs nowadays are relatively "safe" compared to the iMac G). The iLamp was quirky, fun, and functional, but more importantly, the design proved that Apple’s success with the original iMac wasn’t a fluke. // TAKE A CHANCE ON ME! Fellow Macintosh Apple enthusiast … This is your chance! You can supplement your collection with the most loved and recognizable iMac model. Behold the legendary collector's item: the "Apple iMac G". // IMPORTANT – WHY BUY FROM ME? (instead of other sellers) I am a Mac user from way back in the Legacy Era. I offer Vintage Apple computers as I would buy them myself. My admiration for Steve Jobs' legacy is so great that I want the Macs I sell, to stand "the test of time". Furthermore I only sell items I have "passion" for. Hardware-wise, all my sold computers are completely disassembled, cleaned – and, if necessary, repaired – in order to extend their lifespan. See pictures. // ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, BATTERY ACID & THERMAL PASTE – DUST: the inside of a -year-old computer looks the same as "the collection-container of a vacuum cleaner" (read: a dust bunny). And as you know "dust" can ruin your electronics; – LEAKS: -year-old batteries will someday leak, causing irreversible damage to the computer. So, if "time and date" are not displayed correctly, you sadly will know what time it is; – HEAT: the biggest killer of electronics is heat. Whenever opening an old Mac (e.g. for replacing de pram battery), one must redo the CPU & GPU thermal paste. I'd hate to see a great machine like the iMac G killed needlessly (because the seller is unknowledgeable). Long-Story Short. Computers from other vendors may look the same on the outside. I can guarantee you that the inside is very different! So if you want to enjoy your investment for as long as possible, choosing "wisely" is advisable. // DEEP-CLEANED – Usually the ventilation holes and the fan, are filthy ... and the inside of the bulb is "dusty and dirty" (which does not benefit the operation). // GERM-FREE PRO KEYBOARD & APPLE PRO MOUSE The "iMac" comes with the accompanying RARE Apple "Pro" keyboard and mouse. The Apple keyboard and Mouse alone are already worth a fortune on auction websites. The keyboard is completely disassembled and cleaned professionally (see pictures). It looks brand-new! In my opinion it is my responsibility (as a seller) to provide a Germ-Free keyboard (a study found that % of the keyboards were contaminated with bacteria). So, I think we can agree that nobody wants a nasty, infected keyboard. FYI: some pictures show a wrong keyboard/mouse (I was cleaning teh right ones @ the moment of photographing). Carefully check the text in the pictures to know where you are bidding on. // YELLOWISH COLOR CAST Be aware that … the -year old (white) computer plastic "aged" by UV-light (this a well-known issue). All items therefore have a slightly yellowish color-cast. PS/ sadly some pictures seem to show a wrong representation. I mean … they seem to show a brighter & whiter plastic color (depends on camera positioning & lightning). But again. The reality, however is that all items have a slightly yellowish color cast. Important. Don't bid on these items if the "yellowish color cast" will bother you. Leave the bidding for those who don't mind. // SWEDISH QWERTY KEYBOARD! Be aware. The accompanying QWERTY keyboard is a "SWEDISH" version. // HARDWARE & SOFTWARE It was Steve's vision to intertwine hardware and software. Retro-computing without software is therefore – in my opinion – "meaningless". Therefore, all my macs are packed with "tons of pre-installed software of yesteryear", ready to use – and to give you a glimp of Apple's history. This % working and technically checked “Vintage” bundle comes with “working software”. E.g. Adobe Creative Suite (including the applications: "Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign"), Apple Software (Keynote, Pages, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, etc) – and Office Suite for MAC X (including the applications: "Word, PowerPoint, Excel"). Twenty Years Ago "Steve Jobs" slashed a large X on the wall and smiled. Mac OS X introduced concepts like the Dock and Terminal – and created the underpinnings not only for the future of the Mac, but also for the iPhone, iPad, and even the Apple Watch. Disclaimer: The computer only includes software that is classified as "abandonware" ( from the Public Domain, distributed over the internet and available freely, easily and readily). The software is supplied "free of charge" as a free service (for the retro-computing fan). Both the applications and the operating system are installed in ENGLISH. // UPGRADED RAM MEMORY – The standard RAM of " MB" is doubled to " MB", to really use this machine to its full potential, and speed up "rendering" within the graphic ADOBE programs from the Creative Suite. As a result all applications launch very fast. Otherwise running Tiger (OSX .) and software like the Adobe Creative Suite is impossible. // WHAT IS TOURNESOL? It was originally known as "the New iMac". Apple advertised the iMac G as having the ADJUSTABILITY of a desk lamp, and was nicknamed the "iLamp". It was also known as the "Sunflower" (or "Tournesol" in French). The so-called "Tournesol" was - as we are used to from Apple - an innovative machine. Lightweight and also smaller than its predecessors and the competition. The processing speed and RAM capacity was impressive. Many users were therefore impressed in . The so-called BULB has achieved a CULT STATUS because of its "futuristic appearance". Although the machine is % functional, it can also be displayed as an "eye-catcher and showpiece". The internal components are housed in an attractive . inch HALF SPHERE in ICE "WHITE" housing with a chrome stainless steel neck that supports a "TFT Active Matrix LCD display. ”Unlike some previous iMac models which are convection cooled, the iMac" Flat Panel "series is cooled by a silent internal fan. // INCLUDING – iMac all-in-one computer Power PC G (PowerMac,) ; The pram battery has been replaced so that date, time and all other personal settings are preserved. The "i" in "iMac" stands for "internet", "individual", "instruct", "inform" and "inspire". // IMPORTANT As these are "vintage items", they are being sold as. Normal signs of use and wear. But as an experienced connoisseur I can guarantee that these items are in GOOD condition (always keeping in mind their age). – the computer works as it should (extensively tested!). – The CD-ROM-player (often broken) works excellent on this iMac. It only needs some little manual assistance when inserting/ejecting a CD; – The USB connection is CHECKED too (it works)! – The LCD colors are "vivid"; – the keyboard is cleaned & repaired (important plus!). The same holds true for the mouse (works like a charm). // IMPORTANT READ CAREFULLY SOME TINY ISSUES Because there are some minor issues there is NO reserve price on this bundle. I'll let you decide the value of this historic iMac. It concerns the following minor issues: – The internal speaker distort and often won't work. This problem can be solved by replacing the internal speaker. Unfortunately I do not have a replacement at the moment (but it's to be find on dedicated vintage websites); – The previous owner has fixed the protective TFT-edge with screws (see photos); – When the arm is bent the screen is crooked. In the upward position this is not the case; – This type of TFT-screen collects dust particles between the screen layer (after more than decades). That is "normal". Please do not bid if the previous issues bother you.
