Esta pieza es un verdadero testimonio del ingenio médico del siglo XIX. Se trata de un _termocauterio del Dr. Paquelin_, modelo Mignon, dentro de su estuche original, una herramienta revolucionaria de la medicina quirúrgica en su tiempo.

- *Caja*: De madera negra lacada, con bisagras metálicas y un forro interior de terciopelo púrpura, lo que denota un producto de alta calidad. La inscripción dorada en la tapa interior con el nombre del instrumento y su creador (“ _Thermocautère du Dr. Paquelin MIGNON_”) sugiere procedencia francesa.
- Instrumentos: Incluye varias piezas metálicas bien organizadas, entre ellas el cauterio cilíndrico, recipientes de vidrio con tapas metálicas (posiblemente para éter o alcohol), y lo que parece ser un calentador de platino o reservorio para gas inflamable, típico del modelo Mignon.
- Estado: Se conserva en muy buen estado para su antigüedad; los metales presentan oxidación mínima y el forro interior está parcialmente intacto.

Valor histórico y funcional
Este tipo de instrumento era utilizado para cauterizar tejidos sin electricidad, mediante la vaporización de un líquido inflamable que calentaba la punta. Supone un puente entre la medicina clásica y la moderna.
