Clémence Birot designed contemporary minimalist cork and steel shelves with a cobalt blue metal inlay in natural cork, 40 cm wide by 25 cm deep by 6.5 cm high, origin France, in as-new condition, titled Mortaise 400 - Cobalt.
Description from the seller
Natural cork shelves that highlight the quality of materials with the simplicity of Scandinavian design.
Inspired by the tenon and mortise. The cobalt blue metal is embedded in the cork as a subtle detail.
Simple and gentle shapes without superfluous elements for a timeless design.
This glue-free assembly allows for the recycling of the product at end of life and avoids transportation constraints.
Thanks to its flat packaging.
Cork offers many ecological benefits, from its production to its numerous recycling possibilities.
The cork oak has a long lifespan, approximately 200 years, and possesses an enormous regenerative capacity.
It is one of the types of trees that absorb the most CO2 from the atmosphere. Its production therefore contributes to the fight against climate change.
Cork oak forests represent one of the best examples of harmonious interaction between humans and nature in the Mediterranean, where nearly all of the world's cork production is concentrated. Hundreds of thousands of people live off cork forests while preserving nature. No tree is cut down to harvest the cork; the bark is removed every 9 to 12 years. This preserves the forest and its ecosystem.
FSC-certified cork from Portuguese forests
Made by the Cork Unit workshop in Santa Maria de Feira, Portugal.
