Timor 69 metal table lamp designed by Louis Kalff for Philips in the 1950s, with a matte brown shade and foot and a gold-coloured stand, height 50 cm, shade Ø40 cm, foot Ø17 cm, in good used condition with minor signs of age, fully working with an updated plug and delivered without a light source.
Description from the seller
This impressive table lamp was designed in the 1950s–1960s by Louis Kalff (1897-1976) and produced by Philips under the model name Timor 69. The shade and foot are matte brown lacquered, forming a beautiful contrast with the gold color of the stand. The interior is light-colored to enhance light reflection. The lamp is marked on the base with the well-known Philips logo. The cord has a modernized plug that complies with current standards. The lamp has been cleaned, checked and is in working condition. The shape of this lamp seems to have inspired Louis Kalff's architectural masterpiece, the Evoluon in Eindhoven, a science and technology exhibition center. Louis Kalff is also the designer of the globally known Philips logo as we still know it today. Besides industrial design, Louis Kalff was also successful as an architect.
Dimensions: H 50 cm. Shade Ø 40 cm. Base Ø 17 cm
Designer: Louis Christiaan Kalff for Philips Holland
Material: Aluminum, brass, bakelite
Style: Mid Century, modern, Art Deco
Color: Shade and base matte brown, golden (brass) stand.
Condition: Good condition (a bit crooked, but it sits beautifully with a slight forward tilt) with minimal signs of use. (see photos).
There is a dent in the shade, but because the shade is detachable, the dented side can easily be mounted toward the wall on the lamp.
The table lamp is supplied without light source.
