AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Original Mosasaur Fin in Natural Matrix

An exceptionally well-preserved and fully articulated Mosasaurus fin, measuring 56 cm in height and 24 cm in width. The specimen clearly preserves the sequence of metacarpals/metatarsals and phalanges, forming the functional fin that propelled this marine predator through the seas of the Late Cretaceous. It possesses all the bones present in the mosasaur fin; it is a complete specimen, and the carpus is also complete.
Besides the bones of the hand, this matrix also shows part of the animal's body, with 7 ribs observable. It is a completely original specimen, with the bones attached, that is, all of them belonging to the same animal that swam about 100 million years ago. Complete. Very uncommon.

Extracted from the Oulad Abdoun Basin, Layer 3, Hamza, Morocco.
Cretaceous

Originating from the phosphate deposits of Morocco, the specimen presents the bones arranged naturally and preserved in their original matrix, with no alterations of any kind.

This type of piece has high value due to the difficulty of fossilizing the bones of the fins together without them separating after the animal's decomposition or subsequent mineralization of the fin bones. Since the bones are very small and separate easily.
Skulls, jaws, vertebrae, and mosasaur phalanges isolated are relatively common on the market, but a fin is a rare specimen, and with all its bones fossilized together it is an even rarer specimen. Authentic and complete articulated fins like this rarely appear on the market.

It is delivered with an authenticity certificate, provenance, and traceability.
