Medieval Crusaders era, bronze archer thumb ring. The triangular bezel is decorated with incised floral and geometric motifs. Broad and gently tapering rounded ring band.
Outside diameter: ± 23,6 mm
Inside diameter: ± 20,8 mm minimum
Condition: good and solid condition, very smooth and shiny olive-green patina, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Archers thumb ring
Ancient archers wore rings on the bow-thumb to protect it when drawing the bowstring. To draw the bow, the archer would loop the thumb around the string just below the arrow and stabilize it against the first finger. With the release of the bowstring, the ring would shield the thumb while also allowing the string to swiftly glide past it.
