White porcelain lidded vase NO MAKE-UP designed by Alessandro Mendini for Alessi, part of the Serie Tendentse, produced in Germany in 1992.
Description from the seller
Porcelain container with lid, in white porcelain NO MAKE-UP
Designed by Alessandro Mendini for the famous Italian company Alessi.
for the Tendentse series, produced in Germany.
From the modern, minimalist, and elegant aesthetic, this bullet-shaped vase highlights the playful and lively elements characteristic of the designer.
In every project by the Milanese designer, in fact, you can perceive the fun and pleasure they experienced in creating it.
In particular, this vase, which we find here in its basic form, was created as a prototype for the '100% Make-up' project, a collective effort involving 100 authors including architects, designers, graphic artists, and artists from alternative cultures, invited to create their own 'visual story' to decorate each of the 100 copies of the vase designed by Alessandro Mendini himself, using decals.
Alessandro Mendini was born in Milan in 1931. He directed Casabella, Modo, and Domus. He won a Compasso d’Oro. Among his most significant works are the Groningen Museum in Groningen, the Arosa Casino, and the Omegna Forum. He reinvented the image of Alessi, for which he served as a meta-design consultant. He was a designer, architect, and image consultant for companies such as Philips, Swarovski, Swatch, and Bisazza. He died on February 18, 2019.
