About the Designers
Knud Friis (1926–2010) and Elmar Moltke Nielsen (1924–1997) co-founded their architectural studio FRIIS & MOLTKE in 1954. Throughout the 1960s and beyond, they introduced a softer, Danish interpretation of Brutalism, characterised by raw materials, strong geometries, and integration with the surrounding landscape. Their groundbreaking architectural work – both in Denmark and internationally – left a significant mark on Scandinavian design history. The FM series is a testament to their shared creative vision and enduring legacy.
