Description from the seller
Beautiful golden-blond mahogany cabinet
From the Louis XVI period, circa 1775.
The wood has been expertly polished, which is a time-consuming and expensive process
in which shellac was meticulously applied using a tampon using a rotating motion.
Shellac is a natural product.
This creates a beautiful deep shine and the wood looks like a polished mineral.
It is a classicist style, borrowed from classical Roman antiquity.
During this time Roman antiquity was rediscovered and wealthy people went
extensively travel as tourists through Italy to admire the art and architecture.
The Grand Tour.
The base cabinet has three large drawers that slide easily.
The shape is 'single curved', straight at the top and tapering towards the bottom.
The interior is beautiful and extensive.
Also very practical with plenty of storage space.
Several shelves and 5 small drawers all glued with red mahogany.
Elegant tapering legs.
The top cabinet can be taken apart so that the furniture can be easily transported.
The height up to the cornice is 212 cm, including the central ornament, 234 cm.
