The US Diamond T 969A Wrecker is an iconic vehicle that combines extraordinary power with a captivating design. This tow truck, with its robust silhouette and vintage details, evokes an era when vehicles were both practical and distinctive. The Diamond T 969 was a sturdy vehicle recovery truck, built on a 6x6 chassis weighing 4 tons, powered by a Hercules RXC six-cylinder gasoline engine.
Produced by the Diamond T Motor Car Company of Chicago between 1940 and 1945, this tow truck was equipped with a five-speed overdrive transmission and a direct and reduction gear. Fitted with a set of heavy-duty Holmes W45 Twin Boom Wrecker equipment, the 969 could function both as a crane and as a wrecker, thanks to its arms that increased lifting capacity. The stabilizing legs allowed for high stability during recovery operations. With electric winches capable of lifting up to 10 tons, it was an essential vehicle. Over 6,000 units were produced, and many continued to operate even after the war, thanks to the support of the Lend-Lease Act.
