A magnificent large specimen of the Charonia tritonis, commonly known as the Triton's Trumpet.
This impressive marine gastropod shell is renowned for its sculptural form, strong ridges, and warm natural colouration with cream, orange and light brown tones. The interior shows a beautiful glossy surface with smooth transitions of colour.
The Triton's Trumpet is one of the largest predatory sea snails in the world, found in the tropical Indo-Pacific region, often living among coral reefs where it preys on sea stars.
Because of its elegant form and size, such shells were traditionally used as ceremonial or decorative "sea trumpets" in Polynesia and Southeast Asia.
A superb collector's piece or interior decorative object.
