Three-piece desk set in gilded bronze with cloisonné enamel from France, dating to circa 1880, comprising an 18 cm vase, a 9.5 × 11.5 cm letter rack, and an 11.5 × 8.5 cm inkwell, with polychrome enamels in blue, turquoise, white and red and gilt highlights.
Description from the seller
Gilded bronze and cloisonné enamel desk set – France, circa 1880 – 3 pieces (vase, inkwell, letter holder)
⸻
Description
Elegant office set consisting of three elements.
- a vase (18 cm in height),
– a letter holder (9.5 × 11.5 cm),
- an inkwell (11.5 × 8.5 cm).
Each piece is finely crafted in gilded bronze and polychrome cloisonné enamel, in shades of royal blue, turquoise, white, and red, with delicate gold highlights.
The work is of great precision, typical of French or Russo-French productions from the late 19th century, inspired by the oriental and Byzantine taste that was fashionable at the time.
The vase rests on a brass and alabaster pedestal, while the letter holder adopts a curved and pierced shape of great elegance, while the inkwettle retains its original enameled cup and feather supports.
The enamels are vibrant, the gilding well preserved, and the superb patina, although slightly worn in places.
A decorative set of refined quality, ideal for collectors or Napoléon III style interiors.
I think the vase is a piece added; I've never seen it before. Sold as is.
I insist on carefully examining the photos, as they serve as a description.
