Morire di classe, la condizione manicomiale by Gianni Berengo Gardin and Carla Cerati, first edition published in 1969, Italian, with softcover binding, published by Einaudi, Serie Politica, 90 pages, 24 x 18 cm, in very good condition and signed by both photographers.
Description from the seller
Precious copy of the original edition, exceptionally signed on the title page by Gianni Berengo Gardin (1930 - 2025) and Carla Cerati (1926 - 2016), almost impossible to find elsewhere on the internet, whether signed or unsigned. 98 pages and 62 black-and-white photographs, most full-page and some double-page, with text in Italian by psychiatrist Franco Basaglia. Soft cover. This book is also listed in Photobook by Parr & Badger, volume II, page 246.
To view the photographic series in full screen, double-click on a photograph, then you can return to the standard display at any time.
Gianni Berengo Gardin was first approached by Carla Cerati, who wanted to create a report on psychiatric asylums. However, since she was afraid to go alone, she asked Gianni Berengo Gardin to accompany her. He agreed on the condition that he also take photographs, and thus the book 'Morire di classe,' published in 1969, was created with texts by the founder of anti-psychiatry, Franco Basaglia. In this first edition, published with the names of both authors in a collective work approach, the photographic credit for all the photographs was not individualized. The publication of this book helped Franco Basaglia achieve the abolition of the law on psychiatric confinement at that time.
Books from my personal collection kept with the utmost care. Protected shipping with the highest level of care and guaranteed postal tracking. In case of multiple purchases, there is the possibility of combined shipping with a refund of any excess postal fees paid via Paypal.
