Description from the seller
Coelacanthiformes – Undescribed species
Upper Cretaceous (Turonian, approximately 93 million years ago)
Origin: North America
Complete specimen of a fossil coelacanth belonging to an undescribed species.
The morphology of the specimen shows distinctive features that do not correspond to the known species of the group, leaving room for a potential formal classification by whoever acquires it.
Fish dimensions: 42 × 15 cm
Dimensions of the sheet: 61 × 40 cm
Note: the distal part of the tail is not present, exactly as in the original finding. No intervention of integration.
The panel was only reinforced on the back to ensure stability and safe transport.
No restoration, no reconstruction, no integration.
The artifact is in its original state of preservation.
It is a coelacanth of significant size, with a clearly visible head, fins, and body line.
As is well known, coelacanths represent one of the most iconic and recognizable lines in vertebrate history.
Whoever acquires the piece can proceed with the descriptive study and propose the name of the species, leaving their permanent signature in zoological literature. A rare opportunity in high-level paleontological collecting.
Provenance is verified and documented.
