Sacral and first caudal vertebrae of Psittacosaurus – Lower Cretaceous (about 120 million years ago)
Location: Yixian Formation, Liaoning, China
Period: Lower Cretaceous (Aptian)
Species: Psittacosaurus sp.
Rare spinal segment composed of four fused sacral vertebrae and the first caudal vertebra, belonging to an adult specimen of notable size for the species.
The artifact is completely natural, with no restorations or additions, and shows excellent preservation. The sacral lateral apophyses, deformed due to articulation with the ilium, are clearly visible, as are the articular surfaces and neural laminae. Original light ochre color, stable and compact matrix.
Total dimensions: 13.5 × 7 × 4 cm
Conditions: excellent – no restoration
Origin: old European private collection (1990s acquisition).
An authentic and rare specimen, representative of the pelvic region and the beginning of the tail of Psittacosaurus, belonging to an adult individual. Of great collecting interest.
