The definition of the different material cultures is essentially based on the lithic industry, and in particular on the shape of the microliths (for example: points with retouched or unretouched bases, isosceles and scalene triangles, segments of circles, so-called Sauveterre points, etc.). We also find scrapers, burins, and sometimes massive tools similar to axes made of flint. Many raw debitage products are also used. Depending on the region and the period, different sandstones are transformed into elongated or beveled pebbles, prismatic picks or grooved polishers.

The working of hard animal materials involves bones, teeth, and deer antlers. In northern Europe, these are transformed into a wide range of projectile elements. While in France, apart from a few rare harpoons and bone points reported here and there, production is limited to simple beveled or pointed pieces, linked to domestic activities.
