Description from the seller

"Visions of Japan" is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.

Following in the footsteps of Japan's leading postwar photographers, including Tomatsu Shomei and Hosoe Eikoh,
Moriyama began working freelance in the late 1960s, producing conceptual works as a member of the group "Provoke," which also included Nakahira Takuma and Takanashi Yutaka. He subsequently produced legendary masterpieces such as "Nippon Photo Theater" and "Goodbye Photography," establishing himself alongside Nobuyoshi Araki as one of the world's most popular Japanese photographers.

This book is part of the "Visions of Japan" series, featuring renowned Japanese photographers, published by the now-defunct Korinsha Publishing in the late 1990s. It features images taken in Paris.

Reminiscent of the Paris of master photographer Eugene Atget in places, it feels like an homage to Atget.

The preface, written by Shunji Ito, also includes essays on Atget and Daido Moriyama's own thoughts on Atget.
Art direction by Kaoru Kasai.
