Description from the seller

A rare two sided copper icon

1.The Baptism of Christ
Baptism of Christ (also called Theophany or Epiphany in Orthodox tradition).
A central figure standing in the Jordan River, with hands crossed on the chest (Christ).
A figure to the right holding a staff and touching His head — this represents John the Baptist performing the baptism.
A figure on the left, often interpreted as an angel attending the scene.
A dove descending from above, symbolizing the Holy Spirit.

2. The Mother of God & Christ Child
Theotokos (Mother of God) holding the Christ Child.
The Mother of God is shown in a red mantle with a solemn, compassionate expression.
The Christ Child is blessing with His right hand and holding a scroll (symbol of divine wisdom).
The letters around the halos are traditional Church Slavonic abbreviations identifying them in Orthodox tradition.
