Nautilus Sea shell - S-07 ARGONAUTA HIANS (No Reserve Price)

A very beautiful Argonauta Hians shell — also known as the winged argonaut, muddy argonaut, or brown paper boat — is a species of pelagic octopus. The common name derives from its gray-brown shell. The Chinese name for this species means 'gray seahorse nest.' The female of this species, like all argonauts, creates a thin, paper-like egg case that wraps around the octopus, similar to how the boat lives in its shell (hence the name paper boat). The egg case features a broad keel, giving it a square appearance, with several rounded bumps along the keel and fewer than 40 smooth ribs on the sides of the shell. Dimensions: 50/30/75mm. The shell has a small hole visible in the pictures. Highly recommended for collectors and interior decorators.
