Description from the seller

The ceramics produced in Meroë are mainly known through finds made in lower Nubia. Most of the pottery is painted, but there are also stamped pieces and pieces decorated with slip (a type of decoration applied with clay). Among the examples of painted pottery, the hands of different artists can be identified, and archaeologists have found vessels by the same painter at sites far apart, testifying to a thriving pottery industry and active trade, or possibly the movement of painters.

Provenance: Ex Museum Exhibiton of the Arbeitsgruppe für Biblische Archäologie, 2008, Germany; Your Antiquarian, Spain, 2021; Formerly Pablo H. Goizauskas Collection, Spain, 2025.

Statement seen by Catawiki. Important information. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days.
