A refined set of four authentic Wayang Golek rod puppets from Java and Sunda, dating to the 1940s–1960s, in good used condition with minor wear.

A fine assembled group of four authentic Wayang Golek rod puppets from Indonesia (Java / West Java). Two older classical court characters with richly painted heads and batik costumes, combined with two expressive figures from the Sundanese folk repertoire, including the typical clown figures (punakawan style).
1 & 2 – Classical court characters (Java, circa 1940–1955)
Finely cut wooden heads with original paint and ornaments.
Traditional batik sarong and decorated chest pieces with gold-colored appliqués.
Beautiful slim arm constructions with original hand painting.
3 – Punakawan Typology (Sunda, ca. 1950–1960)
Characteristic expressive face with a long nose and a funny grin.
Original woolen headdress.
Detailed painted bust and cotton sarong.
4 – Red funny character (Sunda, c. 1950–1960)
Red face, large eyes, typical of the comic sidekick roles from the Sundanese repertoire.
Black costume with a red-gray sarong and a wooden dagger at the belt.
Complete with sticks, in good condition.
Shipping in a custom-made box, and insured.
