This is a large-format folder containing 78 illustrated plates (lithographs and photographs) documenting the monuments of the city of Como. The first part, consisting of 48 plates, is dedicated to the exterior and interior of the Cathedral of Como. The second part, with 30 plates, is dedicated to other Como monuments, including the Basilica of Sant'Abbondio, the Rocca del Baradello, Porta Torre, the Basilica of San Fedele, the Town Hall, commemorative statues, and more.
Limited edition out of commerce sponsored by the Municipality of Como, limited and numbered (ours is No. 296).
Publisher: University of the Third Age 'Alessandro Volta'.
Author: Canon Vincenzo Barelli (1807-1890), was known for his scientific passion and interest in local history and archaeology. The original edition of this very important work for the study of classical architecture in Como was published posthumously.
The edition is in large format (in-folio, approximately 36x50cm).
Loose pages: 13 + 78 plates.
Conditions: excellent internally, intact, without visible signs, missing parts, or tears, very clean (only a very small, almost imperceptible stain on the frontispiece sheet near the date), practically almost perfect. Some signs of wear, slightly crushed corners, and light smudges on the case.
