Fiat 850 Sport Spider from 1970.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

General

A beautiful 1970 Fiat 850 Sport Spider, designed by Giugiaro at Bertone, finished in the iconic Blue Azzurro color. Originally delivered in Paris, the car spent much of its life on the Côte d'Azur. It features a 903 cc four-cylinder engine with 52 hp at 5,200 rpm and a top speed of 147 km/h. In 2025, the car was imported to the Netherlands and made fully roadworthy. The Fiat has been technically inspected and approved by the RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority), and is exempt from both periodic road tax (APK) and road tax in the Netherlands.

BODYWORK & PAINTWORK

The bodywork is in good condition, and the Blue Azzurro paintwork provides a fresh, original look. The chrome could use a touch-up, if desired, to further enhance the car's appearance.

TECHNICAL

Upon arrival in the Netherlands, the car underwent a complete mechanical overhaul. This included four new whitewall tires, new coolant hoses, fluids, filters, and spark plugs, and a new water pump. New taillights (Lamborghini Miura-style) and turn signals were also installed. Furthermore, the brake linings and brake cylinders were replaced, new axle boots were installed, the steering knuckle was overhauled, and a new Abarth floor mat set was added. The car drives, steers, and brakes as it should. The oil pressure gauge is not working, but the warning light is.

INTERIOR:

The interior is in good condition. The front seats have been reupholstered in new leather, and a new set of floor mats is included. The soft top can be reupholstered; a brand new black convertible top is included. The current top is included separately.

Documents

The car is delivered with various documentation, matching keys, new spare parts, a new convertible roof in a box, and a nice new car cover. The RDW approval is fully in order.

AFHALING

The Fiat is ready to use immediately and can be picked up at your convenience for a nice drive or transport. Thanks to the exemption from road tax and APK (vehicle inspection), the operating costs are minimal.

Other Information

With only 76 registered Fiat 850 Sport Spiders on Dutch license plates, this is an extremely rare classic. The value trend is positive and provides an excellent basis for future preservation or appreciation. The combination of rear-wheel drive, light weight, and open driving makes it a delightful car for scenic drives and summer outings.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
