Description from the seller

A very rare object of Industrial Design:
- card-index drawer or modular filing cabinet "Olivetti Synthesis", part of the office furniture system designed and produced by Olivetti starting in the 1950s and updated in the following decades.

“Synthesis” was the name of Olivetti's office furniture division, founded in 1948 by Giovanni Pintori and Marcello Nizzoli (among others) to create a coordinated system of furniture and accessories intended to integrate Olivetti typewriters, calculators, and electronic machines.

It was one of the early modern applications of integrated industrial design:
not only machines, but the entire work environment – desks, lamps, filing cabinets, containers, panels, archives.

• a module for punched cards or documents of the Olivetti Synthesis system;
• Painted metal frame with elements in pressed cardboard or rigid plastic;
• it was used to archive data cards (often for Olivetti calculators or accounting machines).

Closed measurements: 53 x 18 x 4 cm

It could be part of a filing cabinet or of a dismantled wall module.
