Antique Senoufo African stool from Ivory Coast made of wood.
Provenance: collected in Korhogo in the north of Ivory Coast.
Very beautiful patina of use, superb small hardwood and dense wood stool.
The Senufo or Senufo people live between Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and Burkina Faso. They primarily live off agriculture but also hunt. Their villages are governed by a council of elders. The Poro society is fundamental to the cohesion of the tribe.
The Sénoufo created masks, statues, fetishes, and a large number of objects with figurative shapes: loom pulleys, canes, boxes, carved doors, as well as jewelry.
