Sasanian Bronze Ring with Carnelian Gryphon Intaglio
Circa 3rd-7th century AD
This elegant bronze finger ring is set with an oval carnelian intaglio engraved with a gryphon shown in profile, the gem seated in an integral oval bezel that broadens from the shoulders and merges into a solid rounded hoop tapering towards the back.
Dimensions: 3cm x 2cm x 1cm
Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s.
