Description from the seller
Elegant antique gueridon in solid walnut wood, made in the mid-19th century (circa 1840–1870), in Louis Philippe style with Late Empire influences.
The furniture features an elegant and slender structure, typical of the small side tables found in bourgeois homes of the 19th century. The semicircular top (or one with a curved development) rests on a single, finely carved central leg that widens at the base into a tripod of lively and richly carved supports.
The ornamentation is characterized by phytomorphic motifs, stylized leaves, and a central fan-shaped shell, a very recurring element in the Luigi Filippo style and in the tail of the late Empire. These decorative choices, combined with the curved line of the feet and the use of darkened walnut, place the piece in the first half or mid-19th century.
The central leg, with palm-shaped carvings and ornamental grooves, reveals a taste that anticipates some signs of the subsequent Neo-Renaissance revival, yet remains anchored in the softness and sinuosity of the Filippo style.
Refined and decorative piece, ideal for the entrance, living room, reading corner, or as a display table. Perfect for those who love vintage decor or want an elegant and authentic accessory.
