During the 'Kind of Blue' sessions in 1959, notably with John Coltrane, Miles Davis provided his sextet with a schematic framework for the modal improvisations that would make up the album. Davis used the piano as a composition tool. This rare snapshot of Miles offers a sincere glimpse into his working methods as well as an insight into the studio atmosphere.
The American composer and trumpeter Miles Davis made his mark on the history of 20th-century music and jazz. He became a professional musician in 1942 and played until his death in 1991.
