This book is in the form of a stand-alone photo book titled “New Fascination” by Katsuji Fukuda (1899-1991), a pioneer of nude photography in postwar Japan, in an extra issue of Nihon Camera published in January 1958. Fukuda was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and was an assistant editor of “Hakuyo,” a visionary photography magazine led by Hakuyo Fuchigami, which contributed to the emergence and development of modern photography art. From the mid-1930s, Fukuda began a series of portraits of actress Setsuko Hara and other models and their photographic techniques for Asahi Graph, which he then compiled into a book entitled "How to Photograph Women. The collection “How to Photograph Women” became a bestseller. This book is a collection of nude photographs that were new at the time, with a strikingly innovative composition and layout.
