AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Unique find!
A beautiful figurative brooch signed and designed by Prof. Herbert Zeitner, Pforzheim, Germany.
It was made in the late 1950s and executed by the well-known silverware factory of B. H. Mayer in Pforzheim, Germany.
The brooch was commissioned by the Federal Ministry in Germany as a sports award; a postage stamp and a bronze version of this depiction were also made.
This brooch is the larger silver-plated version.
The work is stylistically comparable to the ballet brooches made around 1960 — see p. 48 in "AMATE - The Goldsmith Herbert Zeitner," Verlag der Kunst 2010.
Dimensions: 4 cm L x 3.7 cm W.
Weight: 10.59 grams.

Herbert Zeitner (born June 12, 1900, in Coburg, died October 14, 1988, in Lüneburg) was a very renowned German gold and silversmith.
The gold and silver coins produced by Zeitner between 1918 and 1933 were characterized by styles as diverse as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Bauhaus; his later work in the sixties and seventies was marked by increasing abstraction.
