Description from the seller
Amonites - Fossil shell - Pair of polished fossil ammonites - Cleoniceras sp - 10 cm - 12 cm
(No Reserve Price) - Upper Cretaceous (100.5 - 66 million years ago) - Madagascar
Internal mineralized detail - 12 cm
Ammonites were marine mollusks related to modern squids and octopuses. This pair comes from one of the most recognized sites in the world, famous for the quality and beauty of its fossils. They were marine animals that lived floating or swimming in ancient seas, with their shells divided into internal chambers.
The animal inhabited the outermost chamber, while the inner chambers filled with gas or liquid to regulate buoyancy (like a natural submarine).
They lived millions of years ago, from the Devonian to the Cretaceous.
This lot includes two authentic ammonite fossils from Madagascar, cut in half and polished to reveal in great detail their internal chambers and the characteristic logarithmic spiral.
Origin: Madagascar
• Geological age: Upper Cretaceous (~100 million years ago).
66 million years
• Dimensions (each piece): 10 x 12 (cm)
Total weight: 347g
Condition: Excellent preservation, visible internal features and mineralization. High-quality polish.
Notable features
Highly defined internal structure, showing partitions and crystallized chambers.
Natural coloration resulting from mineralization by calcite and aragonite.
Ideal symmetrical pair for display or decorative use.
It will be adequately protected according to the characteristics of the item, using first-quality materials.
Insured shipment with tracking or tracking number: UPS, DHL, SEUR, TNT, FEDEX, Correos España...
