Description from the seller
PZH is one of the most remarkable pottery factories in the Netherlands, its products are appreciated and collected all over the world. The company was founded in Gouda in 1898 and was awarded the designation 'Royal' in 1930. Its official name became 'N.V. Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland', popularly known as 'Plazuid' or 'PZH'. PZH was known for its innovations, in 1908 it started experimenting with a matt glaze. These two vases are perfect examples of this creation.
The bottoms of the vases bear the PZH trademark, the Lazarus Gate, the tall vase has the model/mould number 812, the name of the design 'Pensée', the mark for the year 1919, the number 7 for July, the artist 'B' (unidentified) and the places 'Holland' and 'Gouda'.
The small vase bears the model/mould number 203, the name of the design 'PENSEE', the mark for the year 1920, the number 9 for September, the artist 'FF' (Frederik Fortuijn?) and the place 'Holland'.
It is rare to find two vases of this age in such perfect condition. The blue is still as bright as the day it was applied, the turquoise is as light as water and the yellow is rich and beautiful.
The vases have no chips or paint loss, only on the inside there is some craquelure and a few discoloured spots.
The vase is 17 cm high and 12 cm wide, with an opening of 7 cm, and weighs 510 grams.
The small vase is 7 cm high and 7 cm wide, with an opening of 3.5 cm, and weighs 110 grams.
