Description from the seller
Nuremberg Trial – 'Economic Crimes' & Pierre Laval File, with
Manuscripts and typescripts
Note:
The transcript of the Nuremberg trial is an internal distribution copy handed to observers and the press in 1945-1946. It bears neither a stamp nor a court clerk's signature and is not a certified original record. These copies, produced in multiple sets for work or press use, circulated freely and may have remained in private collections. Provenance: Wanda Laparra Vulliez, a journalist accredited to the trial.
Description
Group including:
I. Nuremberg Trial (TMI, 1945-46): 203 typewritten pages from the Prosecutor's presentation – Economic Crimes, Part II, detailing the Nazi methods of confiscating property in France, notably the spoliations of Jewish assets.
More than a hundred pages of manuscripts and typescripts.
Approximately ten handwritten pages by Albert Vulliez.
• The remainder from Wanda Lapara Vulliez (notes, drafts, various texts).
III. Copy of Press Files and Manuscripts on Pierre Laval, assembled by Wanda Lapara Vulliez:
Copies of articles and writings by René de Chambrun (including 'The Hard Fight of Pierre Laval Against Fritz Sauckel', 1981).
Copy manuscript 'Laval to the rescue of 2,800,000 hostages (1940-1944)'.
• Autograph and typed copies of correspondence with Gilles Lambert (Le Figaro), Max Clos, Roger Hanin.
Copies of various documents dating back to 1940: American letters concerning visas for refugees, correspondence from Mrs. Eugene Meyer and the American Department of State.
Provenance
Archive Wanda Lapara Vulliez (1911-2005), journalist and interpreter, accredited correspondent at the Nuremberg trial, who preserved this manuscript and compiled this file in her personal archives.
Interest
- Double historical axis: international justice (Nazi expropriations at Nuremberg) and French political memory (Pierre Laval, 1940-1980).
Rare pieces: internal distribution typescript of the public prosecutor's office in Nuremberg; unpublished typescripts and correspondences of René de Chambrun and his interlocutors.
Memory value: this corpus sheds light on both France's role at TMI and the subsequent debates about Laval's figure.
Substantial collection: more than a hundred handwritten and typed pages, offering a direct and varied testimony.
