Description from the seller
The Idian People of America, present on the lands of North America long before the first European arrived, the Hopis continuously uphold their millennia-old traditions, including hoods and other ceremonial accessories.
In the vast desert expanses of the state of Arizona bordered by high plateaus, called Mesa, the Hopi Indians continue their ritual ceremonies in tune with the seasons. Wearing masks and ceremonial attire, the dancers embody spirits whose aid is necessary to regulate rains and ensure a good harvest of beans and corn. Spirits of minerals, game, domestic animals, plants, trees, wind, the dead... the spirituality of all materiality, called Katsiman (or Kachina), is invoked. The Hopis ask these messengers to use their beneficial power to help humans live in harmony.
