Rare Gouda Art Pottery Jug – Rhodian Decor – Model 897 – Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH) – ca. 1900-1910
Beautiful hand-painted pottery jug from the famous Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH) in Gouda, the Netherlands.
This piece features the highly sought-after Rhodian decor, characterised by vibrant orange, blue and green glazes, stylised floral motifs and flowing ornamental patterns. The jug has an elegant tall shape with a single handle and comes with its original metal (tin) stopper with cork.
The underside is fully marked, including:
• The PZH Gouda house mark
• “Gouda Holland”
• Decor name “Rhodian”
• Model number 897
• Painter’s/decor number 1886
This is a fine example of early 20th-century Dutch art pottery, increasingly hard to find in this condition and with its original stopper.

• No chips, cracks or restorations
• Original metal stopper with cork included
• Bright colours and glossy glaze
• Minor age-related wear around the base (typical for Gouda plateel of this period)
