Description from the seller
2 beautiful pieces of petrified wood with a combined weight of 985 grams , almost 1 Kilo !!
Petrified wood is actually fossil wood, millions of years old. After a tree dies, the shape and structure of the wood cells are converted into quartz, usually chalcedony, jasper and opal.
Petrified wood often still has the colors of wood, such as various shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and black. However, other colors also occur, such as green, blue, purple and pink.
There are beautiful pieces of petrified wood with cavities in which amethyst or other quartz crystals have grown. And sometimes the cracks or holes are filled with opal. This is then called wood opal.
Petrified wood can occur in tropical, subtropical and temperate areas. The most popular are the pieces of petrified wood from Arizona and Madagascar, because of their beautiful colors and clearly recognizable wood structure.
