Large antique guillotine - Cigar cutter - Wood, Brass

Highly attractive and also large antique guillotine cigar cutter dating from the late 19th century.

This special object is of French origin, made of mahogany with brass and steel fittings.

This functional and decorative cigar cutter features a vertical blade mechanism, weighted with a brass block, designed to cut cigar tips accurately and cleanly.

Behind a hatch at the top is this beautifully crafted mechanism. It's a pity that Marie Antoinette herself never got to see it...

The construction consists of two supports with a steel guillotine blade that is razor-sharp.

The mahogany wooden platform is equipped with a cigar support, a catch basin in the shape of a bucket, and a coffin (always handy!).

A rare and decorative example of tobacco-related paraphernalia from the Belle Époque.

Smaller specimens that are available online cost significantly more, but they are extremely rare to find.

The condition is very good. Dimensions: 45 cm high x 28 x 28 cm wide and deep.
