Ecco la traduzione in inglese delle schede tecniche per i due vini Ruffino:
3. Ruffino - Modus (1998)
The Modern Super Tuscan
Modus ("Method" or "Measure" in Latin) represents Ruffino's modern interpretation of great Tuscan reds. The 1998 vintage is particularly significant as it is only the second vintage ever produced of this wine (first launched in 1997). It is a textbook Super Tuscan that blends local tradition with international taste.
Characteristics and Profile:
Blend: An equal and balanced blend of Sangiovese (for elegance), Cabernet Sauvignon (for structure), and Merlot (for softness).
The 1998 Vintage: A vintage often overshadowed by the powerful 1997, but which has proven over time to be more elegant, balanced, and capable of extraordinary aging.
Tasting Notes: At over 25 years old, it offers a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry jam, sweet tobacco, mint, and tertiary notes of leather. The palate is sumptuous and full-bodied, with tannins now perfectly integrated and smoothed by the skillful use of French barriques.
3. Ruffino - Romitorio di Santedame (1995)
The Colorino Rarity
This is a bottle of great collector's interest, much rarer than the Modus. It comes from the Santedame Estate in Castellina in Chianti and was created as an experimental project to highlight historical, almost forgotten native grapes.
Characteristics and Profile:
The Specialty: The true soul of this wine is Colorino, a native Tuscan grape variety usually used only in small percentages to add color, but here it plays the protagonist role (often blended with Merlot). It is a 'Cult' wine from the 1990s.
The 1995 Vintage: One of the best vintages of the 90s for longevity, characterized by cool weather that favored acidity and intense aromas.
Tasting Notes: A dark and profound wine. The nose is austere and fascinating, with hints of graphite, ink, dark spices, dried plum, and a balsamic touch typical of the Santedame area. On the palate, it impresses with its still lively structure, supported by a freshness that has ensured its hold for three decades.
