Art Nouveau box – 'Fountain of Youth' – signed E. Dropsy (c. 1900)

Fine silver-plated box with gilded interior, richly decorated in Art Nouveau style.

The lid features a relief depicting an allegorical scene of a woman drinking from a cup offered to her by a cherub (putti), sitting at the edge of a fountain.

At the bottom is the inscription 'Fountain of Youth' ('Bron van de Jeugd') and the signature E. Dropsy.
The scene symbolizes rejuvenation, purity, and eternal youth – a beloved theme within French Art Nouveau.

Interior richly gilded and decorated with floral ornamentation in relief.
Signed by Émile Dropsy (1858–1923), a French sculptor and medalist known for his medals and plaques issued by the Monnaie de Paris and the Société des Amis de la Médaille Française.
