The portrait shows a Middle Eastern royal or high-ranking military figure, dressed in an elaborate ceremonial uniform decorated with numerous medals and an ornate sword.
The photograph is printed on thick albumen paper mounted on a CDV board, typical of the period.
The reverse side carries the photographer’s imprint: Photographie Thiébolt – Bacard Fils, Gendre & Succ., Paris.
