Description from the seller

1900s Art Nouveau Gilded Bronze Desk Set - Possibly Signed Sacherus, Original Box

This elegant Art Nouveau desk set, dating to the early 1900s, includes a finely sculpted letter opener and matching tray, presented in its original fitted box. Crafted from gilded bronze, both pieces feature beautifully detailed rose motifs in high relief, emblematic of the flowing, organic forms that define the Art Nouveau period.

The letter opener bears a signature that appears to read "Sacherus" or a similar name, though the attribution remains uncertain due to the stylized form of the engraving. It is also marked "Rennes," suggesting a French origin, though further research would be needed for definitive attribution.

Origin: Possibly France, early 20th century
Possible Artist: Sacherus (uncertain attribution)
Material: Gilded bronze
Dimensions: Box: 18 cm x 11 cm x 4 cm (7.08 x 4.33 x 1.57 in)
Letter opener: 16 cm x 2 cm (6.29 x 0.78 in)
Tray: 10.2 cm x 5.5 cm (4.01 x 2.16 in)
Condition: Gilding well preserved. Some wear and damage to the exterior of the case. Interior fabric shows discoloration.

This rare set is a fine example of Art Nouveau craftsmanship, perfect for collectors, antique enthusiasts, or as a refined gift. A timeless addition to any desk or display cabinet, with an added layer of intrigue due to its mysterious signature.
