Description from the seller

Kazakh Russia
Handknotted oriental rug in wool, decorated with three geometric medallions on a beige, red, and green background. Surrounded by three borders.
Sold with its certificate of authenticity.
Kazakh-Russian: hand-knotted carpets originating from the region located north and west of Lake Sevan, in the southwestern part of the Caucasus. Originally, these carpets were named after the village of Kazakh (Azerbaijan), where they were produced until around 1925. They are the most well-known and appreciated among Caucasian carpets. They are characterized, among other features, by a long velvet and sometimes have up to eight weft threads between their rows of knots. These relatively loosely knotted carpets have a high-quality wool velvet, which gives them good durability. Most are approximately dozar size (about 200 x 120 cm), and their width is often quite remarkable compared to their length. The colors are vivid, and the motifs are large and original.
