19th-Century Ceramic Teapot with Metal Lid – Orientalist / Chinoiserie Décor
Charming 19th-century ceramic teapot featuring colourful transfer-printed and hand-finished decoration in the Orientalist / Chinoiserie style. The scenes depict traditional Chinese architecture, figures, flowers, and foliage in warm tones of red, gold, green, and brown.
The teapot is fitted with a metal lid, typical of certain European productions of the mid–late 1800s (often added to replace broken porcelain lids or as original fittings on export-style teapots). The metal lid has a decorative finial and a hinged attachment.
The underside bears the W.& E.C. trade mark, together with a pattern number (“530”), identifying the manufacturer and design series.
