Table globe in mahogany wood with a patinated bronze surface, antique style, dating to 1950–1960, featuring an integrated compass and a turned wooden base; condition: in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Refined tabletop globe with integrated compass. Maps – 16th-century style – mahogany and bronze – Collectible item.
An elegant tabletop globe, proposed for auction, crafted in a sixteenth-century style with rich cartographic illustrations inspired by the great atlases of the Age of Discovery. The globe features a detailed print with heraldic coats of arms, marine creatures, and ancient routes, elements highly appreciated by collectors of historical cartography.
The globe is supported by a structure in brass/patinated metal, with a solid meridian and a support with three arched arms. The turned wooden base houses a functioning magnetic compass, a feature that sets this specimen apart from many other contemporary decorative models, making it particularly interesting for those who collect scientific instruments and navigational objects.
Points of interest for collectors:
Reproduction of an old-style map with rich iconography.
Integrated compass: a functional element not always present in similar models.
Brass or metal structure with a beautiful natural patina.
Base made of solid turned wood, of good quality with a Renaissance flavor.
The compact size of the model and its refined line increase its rarity: ideal for studies, libraries, or simply to enhance a desk.
Excellent overall condition. Ready as is, with its original patina, which is not recommended to polish.
Dimensions:
Base diameter 15 cm; height 22 cm; and balloon diameter 11 cm.
A refined object, evocative of the history of navigation. Perfect for enriching a collection of globes, nautical instruments, or vintage study objects.
Professional, accurate, and tracked shipping.
